Israeli media outlet Kan is reporting that a number of family members of those taken captive in Gaza held talks with Egyptian officials last week for their release.
“We have lost faith in the cabinet that will bring about a deal. We are trying to bring our own move,” a family member was reported as saying.
Last night, dozens of relatives rallied outside the residence of PM Netanyahu, demanding he reach a deal with Hamas for the release of their loved ones.
The protesters pitched tents outside Netanyahu’s house in the coastal town of Caesarea – some 60km (37 miles) north of Tel Aviv – to protest against his lack of progress in freeing the captives.
As of Friday, 24,762 people have been killed and 62,108 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the current conflict began in October, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The revised death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attack stands at 1,139.
