The Palestinian Authority foreign ministry has said that the Israeli prime minister is demonstrating a disregard for the UN and international calls for an immediate ceasefire by advocating for Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip for an additional six months.
Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday Israel “will not stop fighting until absolute victory”.
In a statement, the ministry said his comments mean” the continuation of genocide and forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip”.
“Netanyahu derives his courage from the failure of the international institutions to bear their legal and moral responsibilities to end the occupation,” the statement added.
Israel unleashed its latest war in Gaza after Hamas attacks inside Israel on October 7.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least, 25,700 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, have been killed in the conflict. Most of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are displaced, causing a humanitarian disaster.
The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas attacks stands at 1,139.
