The chairman of the Yisrael Beytenu party and former deputy prime minister of Israel has issued sharp criticism on X of an announcement from the Israeli military extending military service for citizens of the country.
The conscription bill as currently published, is a message that divides the people, harms the regular soldiers, the reservists and their motivation, and divides the people into two,” he wrote.
“By definition, this is a violation of national security and national resilience.”
Earlier, we reported that the Israeli army will now require 36 months of military service from all Israeli citizens, raising it from 32 for men and 24 for women.
