Egyptian officials said they have received Hamas’s response to a truce agreement they proposed for the Gaza Strip, a statement from Egypt’s state information service said.
Earlier, we reported on an official statement from Hamas saying it had responded in a “positive” manner to the framework for a proposed deal for an extended pause in fighting in the Gaza war. The proposal would also see Israeli captives held in Gaza exchanged for Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
US Secretary of State Blinken and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani confirmed as much during a joint press conference today in Doha.
