How do you tell the White House and the international community that you are rejecting this Hamas proposal, rejecting this ceasefire plan, without explicitly doing so?
You do that by saying, essentially, what [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu has just said in that press conference.
There was no candid no to the ceasefire proposal, what there was, was plenty of reiteration of many of the points that Netanyahu has been making over recent days and weeks.
We have no explicit rejection of that deal, but after listening to what Netanyahu said, I don’t think anyone can claim that he is agreeing to it.
We now have a very clear gap between [US President] Joe Biden’s White House and the Israeli position.
You could argue very credibly that this was a very clear snub from Netanyahu to [US Secretary of State] Antony Blinken, to Joe Biden, and to the White House.
