A new round of negotiations aimed at achieving “calm” in Gaza and a prisoner-captive exchange is set to open in Cairo, the AFP news agency reports.
Egypt is urging “both parties to show the necessary flexibility” to make a deal, an unnamed Egyptian official is quoted as saying.
A Hamas source with knowledge of the matter confirmed the Cairo talks with the goal of “a ceasefire, an end to the war, and a prisoner exchange deal”.
It is unclear if any Israeli officials will attend the meeting after Israeli PM Netanyahu mocked Hamas’s “bizarre demands” on Wednesday.
