What is happening at the Lebanon-Israel border?

Lebanon’s Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah and Israel’s military have exchanged nearly-daily fire since the start of the war on Gaza after the October 7 Hamas attack.

However, in the past few weeks tensions have escalated, with a series of cross-border attacks that have resulted in casualties on both sides.

Monday marked a further escalation after Israeli warplanes struck Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley killing at least two Hezbollah members on the outskirts of the Buday village near Baalbek – the first time Irael struck eastern Lebanon since the war in Gaza began.
